  • July 2014 First contact with WA Police to discuss the sport of Airsoft
  • November 2015 Submission made to the Law Reform Commission Project 105 – Review of the Firearms Act 1973
  • January 2016 Obtained letter from New Zealand Police dispelling many of the myths raised by Australian politicians and Police
  • November 2016 Law Reform Commission Project 105 – Review of the Firearms Act 1973 final report recommends for Airsoft to be permitted
  • March 2017 Western Australian Airsoft Club Inc. is formed as a not-for-profit organisation under the Associations Incorporation Act 2015 to lobby for the sport of Airsoft
  • May 2017 First official club event: Murdoch University petition signing
  • June 2017 The Club attends Supanova Convention to raise awareness about the sport of Airsoft and petition signing. Over 2,000 signatures obtained in two days
  • July 2017 First meeting with Hon. Aaron Stonehouse MLC (Liberal Democrats Party). Aaron commits to support the sport of Airsoft in WA
  • August 2017 #TurnMyNerfIn campaign: protest against the legal definition of a firearms and the interpretation of WA Police
  • August 2017 First Club blood donations. The Club becomes a Red25 member
  • October 2017 Segment on Airsoft and the Club’s activities on the Today Tonight show
  • October 2017 Club takes part in New Zealand OZ1 Airsoft event together with Hon. Aaron Stonehouse MLC
  • November 2017 Federal petition of 3,412 signatures tabled for the amendment of the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956 to treat Airsoft devices same as items of similar risk
  • January 2018 The Club initiates Airsoft Lobbyists of Australia with the goal to encourage and assist similar lobbying organisations to form in each State and Territory
  • July 2018 Work starts on the Firearms Amendment (Airsoft) Bill 2019 (WA Airsoft Bill) together with Hon. Aaron Stonehouse MLC
  • November 2018 The West Australian publishes an article on the upcoming WA Airsoft Bill
  • October 2019 Petition of 2,358 signatures tabled to the WA Parliament in support of the sport of Airsoft
  • December 2019 First reading of WA Airsoft Bill
  • Jan 2020 Airsoft game rules for safety, enjoyment and competitiveness purposes adopted
  • May 2020 The sport of Airsoft and the WA Airsoft Bill is supported by a number of political parties:

  • May 2020 Second reading of WA Airsoft Bill. WA Labor Party filibusters the debate.
  • August 2020 Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC offers her support for the sport of Airsoft at the Federal level
  • Sept 2020 Invitation received from Hon Jason Wood MP to attend the Federal stakeholder consultation meeting of the firearms community. Presentation made for the sport of Airsoft. The Club is invited to make a submission regarding the amendment of the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956 and review of the sport of Airsoft
  • Oct 2020 Submission made for the amendment of the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956 to permit the sport of Airsoft in Australia
  • October 2020 GoFundMe campaign raises $3,000 to contract legal advice regarding Gel Blasters in WA
  • Nov 2020 Club name and objectives changed to incorporate the sport of GelSoft / Gel Ball. The Club commits to educating the community, expanding and safeguarding the sport of GelSoft in WA
  • Jan 2021 Club launches “My Blaster, My Responsibility” Safety Campaign
  • Feb 2021 “My Blaster, My Responsibility” Safety Campaign supported by GelSoft retailers and WA venues
  • Feb 2021 Organisation of Rifle Practical Shooting Competition

  • Mar 2021 Application made with Department of Sports to register as State Sporting Association
  • Mar 2021 The Club seeks the support of WA Police for our “My Blaster, My Responsibility” Safety Campaign. We are refused
